App kits
App kits are complete product surfaces for a kind of Rails SaaS. Each one combines screens, components, assets, JavaScript, emails, and a design system so your app starts from a coherent product instead of a blank layout.
Installed kits place default views and partials in app/views/rui as read-only files. Copy templates to another view folder to prevent overwrites during configuration updates.
The open gem includes Hound, Shepherd, and Corgie. Full Access unlocks the private Rails UI repository with the complete kit catalog and subscriber-only updates. Inside the gem and configuration files, app kits may still appear as theme; on the website and docs we call the product surface an app kit.
Kits are meant to be extended. Keep the screens that fit, delete the rest, and compose new flows from the same components so screen twenty still matches screen one.
Easy customizations
Everything integrates with your app: edit CSS, colors, assets, typography, and components freely. Configuration updates preserve only colors; other changes are overwritten to enable kit swapping.
What's in a given kit?
Each kit includes reusable UI components, pre-designed views, email templates, custom brand colors, and a complete design system. Subscriber kits go deeper into product-specific surfaces: dashboards, settings, billing, onboarding, empty states, and the flows a real app needs after the first screen.
